Faye Shapiro
Faye received her Jewish education at Beth El, becoming a Bat Mitzvah and graduating Hebrew High and Midrashah in the 1980’s, but didn’t actually learn how to read Torah until 2004. Faye began teaching B’nai Mitzvah students in 2006, in addition to her day job as a genetic counselor, and has really enjoyed helping each of her students grow Jewishly and gain self confidence during their 10 months of study together. When not working or teaching, Faye enjoys cooking and photography and spending time with her husband and three children.

Jeff Cohn
Jeff learned to chant Torah and Haftarah at the Torah Readers Academy at Congregation Emanu-el B’ne Jeshurun where he was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Passing these skills to the next generations of Jews is a core value he imparts with joy and enthusiasm to give students confidence and pride in their Jewish identities. In addition to B’nai Mitzvah tutoring, you can find Jeff at Beth El on Friday nights playing violin during Musical Kabbalat Shabbat, or on Shabbat mornings leading Tot Shabbat and Junior Congregation, reading Torah or Haftarah, or serving as a gabbai during services. Jeff and his family have been Beth El members since moving to Cherry Hill in the summer of 2017.
