Our Mission Statement:
“Beth El is our spiritual home. We create a warm and welcoming community where people of all generations are enriched by learning and inspired to discover their personal experience of Jewish life.”
Shalom Friends,
It is my honor to welcome you to Congregation Beth El of Voorhees, NJ! We are a community of caring and friendly people, affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, proud of what we have accomplished over the last hundred years and looking forward to the next century with great optimism and hope. Over these years, Beth El has meaningfully engaged with all who have sought to join their Jewish journeys to that of a synagogue that meets you where you are, and encourages you to progress forward in spirit, knowledge, and involvement with Jewish life on Shabbat, holidays, and every other day as well.
An inspiring clergy team, hard-working staff, and dedicated lay leadership all strive to make Beth El a place that is truly welcoming in word and in action. Who belongs at Beth El? Jewish people of many different backgrounds, married, single, with and without kids at home, Jews of color and Jews who are LGBTQ, Jews by choice and those not Jewish who are in relationships with those who are. All find camaraderie, friendship, and a synagogue that is both traditional and renewed every day through prayer, study, and opportunities to give time and effort to helping others in a wide variety of volunteer efforts, both within the synagogue and with our neighbors in southern New Jersey.
We have always been lovers and supporters of Israel, participating as a partner in making the Israel-Diaspora relationship as strong as possible even as we engage in meaningful dialogue on issues that cause concern. We host twice-daily minyan and beautiful Shabbat services weekly; Saturday morning services are followed by our signature lunch for everyone! We are committed to education for all ages with a wonderfully energized Early Childhood Center, Religious School of excellence, high school programming and adult education year-round. We serve in the leadership of, and work closely together with, community partners such as the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey, the Samost Jewish Family and Children’s Service, the Katz Jewish Community Center, Kellman Brown Academy, and more.
I look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful and accessible building and picturesque Appel Campus. Call ahead for a tour, or come to a Shabbat service, class, or program and say hello. Let us show you how Beth El can be an inspiring part of your life, as it has been for so many over more than a century of ensuring the Jewish story is securely passed from generation to generation.
