A Jew should start each day blessing G-d. The Talmud gave a list of morning blessings that were originally said at home while getting up, dressed and ready for the day. In time, as people grew lax in reciting them, these blessings were incorporated into the daily morning service. Even if you cannot make it to synagogue, you will still experience tremendous spiritual growth if you start your day with these prayers, adapted from the traditional morning blessings:
- Blessed are You G-d who has given me the power of discernment.
- Blessed are You G-d who has made me in Your image.
- Blessed are You G-d who has made me free.
- Blessed are You G-d who gives me the ability to really see what is around me.
- Blessed are You G-d who gives me clothes, food and shelter.
- Blessed are You G-d who releases those who feel in dire straits.
- Blessed are You G-d who lifts up those who have fallen.
- Blessed are You G-d who has created all that I encounter.
- Blessed are You G-d who guides me on a level path.
- Blessed are You G-d who strengthens the Jewish People and gives us courage.
- Blessed are You G-d who restores strength to the weary.
- Blessed are You G-d who has already given me all that I need.
