Our First Candidate Search Weekend

We are very excited to be welcoming our 1st candidate for Senior Rabbi, Rabbi David Englander, and his wife, Stephanie, for the weekend of January 20th-23rd.

 

EVERYONE is welcome to all events and services with Rabbi Englander. RSVP is not required (with the exception of Habonim Lunch & Learn). Please join us at any and all programs as your opinion is very valuable to us during this process.

 
Throughout the weekend, Rabbi Englander and his wife will be participating in many programs and events at Beth El as well as meeting with many of our lay leaders and professional staff, both in our shul and in the community. We are very proud of our shul and want to represent ourselves in the most positive and welcoming light. We hope you will make every effort to attend, either in person or on zoom, and try to get to know the Englanders a little better. The following is a list of opportunities for the congregation to interact with Rabbi Englander:
 
Thursday, January 20:
  • 7:30am  - Morning minyan (in-person and Zoom)
  • 12:00pm - Habonim Lunch & Learn (in-person and Zoom)
        • RSVP required for in-person
  • 5:45pm  - Town Hall Open Forum (in-person and Zoom)

Friday, January 21:
  • 7:30 am - Morning minyan (in-person and Zoom)
  • 9:30am - ECC Shabbat Party - see Rabbi Englander in action with our preschool (Zoom only)
  • 6:00pm - Kabbalat Shabbat services  (in-person and Zoom)
 
Saturday, January 22:
  • 9:00am - Shabbat morning services and kiddush luncheon (in-person and Zoom)
  • 1:00pm - Opportunity to mingle with Rabbi Englander after Kiddush (in-person only)
  • 5:45pm - Ma'ariv and Havdalah (Zoom only)
 
Sunday, January 23:
  • 9:00am - Morning minyan (in-person and Zoom)
  • 11:00am - Town Hall on Education - ECC, Religious School, Hebrew High (in-person and Zoom)
  • This Town Hall will be your chance to get to know Rabbi Englander and his approach to Jewish education. He’ll speak about his personal background and professional experiences. After his initial presentation, Rabbi Englander will address questions submitted by our members in advance. Following the Town Hall, you will have the opportunity to fill out a short survey and share your impressions of the Rabbi.

There will be surveys going out each evening (except Shabbat) to collect thoughts and feedback. We really want and need to hear from you, our congregation, to help us make this extremely important decision for the future of our shul.  We ask that you return them quickly as it is a competitive environment this year and we will need to make a decision in a timely manner. Thank you in advance for your time and dedication.

Congregational Survey Results

The Rabbi Search Committee has summarized the information gathered from the congregational survey in May as well as the numerous focus groups held in June and July. The committee extends a sincere "Thank You!" to everyone who gave their time and thoughtful input to help make Beth El's questionnaire a true representation of our diverse, committed, and thriving community.
