MY Service – Minyan Yeledim

The Youth Service for 2nd to 6th Graders!

Does the thought of having your child daven, sing, and interact in a supercharged morning Shabbat service appeal to you?

I'm Larry Abrams, a Beth El father and religious school teacher who has led youth services for the last several years. Every Shabbat during the school year I lead MY (Minyan Yeledim), a service designed for kids in the 2nd to 6th grades. Younger brothers, sisters and parents are more than welcome. We meet in the Brown Chapel every time.

WHAT CAN YOUR CHILD EXPECT?

Starting at 10:15am and finishing at 11:30am, I teach the students to read and sing the main prayers of the Shabbat service, and we sometimes do it at the top of our lungs! Additionally, the children come up to receive aliyot in groups. I'm usually flanked by boys and girls who eagerly join me on the bima to help conduct services.

HERE ARE SOME OTHER FEATURES THAT MAKE THE SERVICE UNIQUE

  • Kids have a chance to earn chocolate for right answers.
  • Volunteers can practice and read a sentence from the weekly parsha, directly from the Torah!
  • Skits, games, costumes, or visual aids harness the kids' attention.
  • Everybody gets a healthy dose of enthusiasm and ruach.

Please join us next Shabbat and make MY Service your service!
