The Early Childhood Center prides itself on the high quality day care it provides for Infants through Kindergarten. Open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, five days a week, the Day Care classes are staffed by certified Head Teachers. Each class is designed to meet the individual and group needs of the children with a curriculum that is age appropriate.
This room is designed for babies 3 - 12 months of age with a teacher:child ratio of 1:3. There are no more than 9 babies in the room.
Each child may attend 4 or 5 days a week, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 12 months a year.
12 - 18 month olds love moving into this room since they now have more independence and age appropriate toys. They also have their first exposure to circle time. The 1:4 teacher:child ratio is perfect for these young toddlers, as is the maximum enrollment of 12 students.
Children may attend 3, 4 or 5 days a week from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 12 months a year.
The older one year olds find the more elaborately planned activities, such as "Find the Squares" or "Follow the Red Dots" challenging games through which they learn. As they grow, the children slowly move from highchairs to table and chairs, getting ready for the next level to come.
Children may attend 3, 4 or 5 days a week from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM throughout the year. 12 students is the maximum enrollment per day.
This is the year children begin to drink from cups, start potty training and in general, become those independent beings that learn to paint, use markers and are introduced to scissors.
By the end of the year we have a quite verbal group of almost 3 year olds who can follow the sequence of a story and are capable of following simple directions. The 1:6 ratio of teacher to child allows for the teachers to be available whenever necessary. A maximum number of 12 students allows for individual attention as well as group activities.
Children may attend 3, 4 or 5 days a week from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM from September through June.
Following directions, sequencing and comprehending a story and having good verbal expression are just some of the skills taught in a three year old class. Using themes as well as emergent curriculum, i.e. teaching through subjects which the students are interested, children grow in all areas of development. We are especially working on helping the children hone their social skills during this year. The teacher:student ratio is 1:8 at 3 years of age and there is a maximum class size of 16.
Day Care students attend 3, 4 or 5 days a week from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
At the four year old level, students begin a much more intensive reading and math readiness program. They can concentrate for longer periods of time, begin to recognize letters and letter sounds, and are expected to write their first name using proper upper and lower letters. Auditory discrimination games help children rhyme and be more attentive to the sounds of the words. The introduction of writing is done through the acclaimed "Handwriting Without Tears" program designed by Occupational Therapists specifically for the fine motor coordination of 4 year olds.
Children may attend 3, 4, 4½ or 5 days a week, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM. There is a 1:9 teacher student ratio.
